Privacy Policy

Your Privacy:

Canvas Depot committed to protecting your privacy. We can provide you with the best gift idea possibilities and creative experience only if you trust that we will be good stewards of your personal information.

We will always ask you if you want to receive promotional notices and give you the opportunity to stop them when you want (these are sometimes called "opt-in" and "opt-out" options). We will make it clear when and if information you give will be shared with a third party. When you submit material for us to publish, you also need to be aware of what you might release into the public domain. We encourage you to read both this Privacy Policy and our Conditions of Use page so you fully understand your rights.

By using the Canvas Depot site, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please discontinue using the site; you may let us know about your disagreement by emailing us at Canvas Depot. We may modify this Privacy Policy in the future and will post changes on the site. You can register to be informed of changes by emailing us at Canvas Depot, but changes are not contingent on our sending a notification or your receiving it. Your continued use of the Canvas Depot site following posting of changes shows that you accept them. If you have any questions about anything in this Privacy Policy, please email us at Canvas Depot

When does Canvas Depot collect information and how is it used?

When you enter information and when you use the site, Canvas Depot gathers information in several ways to help us provide our services. These include registration, member-submitted gift and merchant suggestions, site-usage patterns, cookie technology, and IP addresses.

When you register as a member of Canvas Depot, we collect information that helps us provide you with personal service. With the information you provide, we can customize our services to suit your needs and preferences. At the initial registration screen, we ask for a password, and email address. You may browse the site without registering, but will not be able to make use of all of the sites features that require you to be identified or sent email. We may collect additional personal information if you choose to make a submission, enter a contest or complete a survey form. Other services we develop may have additional registration requirements.

A byline name that you set up is published with a submission, giving each submission an author. The byline name is sometimes the first part of your email address, though you should not use your entire address unless you want the public to be sending you mail. Your full name is not published with a submission and site visitors do not have access to this information, unless you include it in the fields that display on the page. Canvas Depot does not recommend doing this. Submitted information should be considered public when you disclose it to the Canvas Depot website.

We may use cookies to store and track your preferences to provide you with a more personalized service. A cookie is a message sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computers hard drive. Most Internet sites use cookies. You can set your browser to reject all cookies. This will, however, prevent you from using some Canvas Depot customized services, and you may have to re-enter personal information to participate in some services. Cookies make your experience easier by saving your preferences and passwords. We also use cookies that contain no personal information at all. These cookies help us estimate our audience size and determine which areas of the Canvas Depot website are the most popular. No advertisers’ cookie is ever placed on your computer by Canvas Depot. Be aware that if you click through a link to a merchants site, that merchant will have its own privacy policy independent of Canvas Depot’s.

IP Address

We may log IP addresses for system administration or to report information in aggregate to our partners. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer automatically when you use the Internet. When you visit a particular Web page in the Canvas Depot website, our servers log your IP address.

With whom does Canvas Depot share information?

In general, we will not disclose your personal information to third parties, except to the extent necessary to provide you with a requested service or under circumstances required by law. We will disclose your personal information when we believe in good faith that any applicable law, regulation, or legal process requires it, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect or enforce our rights or the rights of another member. We also may disclose aggregated member statistics to describe our services and audience to partners and prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties. However, aggregate data is not traceable to you specifically.

Specific uses of personal information that vary from this Privacy Policy (if any) may be found in the Conditions of Use or privacy policies applicable to that particular service. To the extent that you are notified of uses of your personal information which are different from those described in this Privacy Policy during your enrollment in any particular service, contest or promotion, the uses of which you are specifically notified will govern that service, sweepstakes, contest or promotion. Please watch for Conditions of Use and privacy policies that apply to the services for which you enroll or participate. Note, however, that we do not control the privacy policies of our advertisers and other third party sites to which we provide links. If you click-through a link and submit your information to an advertiser or merchant, you will be subject to their own privacy policies. We assume no responsibility or liability for these third party policies or the actions of non-affiliated third parties.

How can I limit the use of my personal information?

Most browsers can be set to alert you when a cookie is sent or prevent cookies completely. You can also cancel your registration to Canvas Depot and/or request the removal of your personal information from our member records by sending email to Canvas Depot.  We will send an email to confirm your request. After you respond, we will remove your individual information from our database. Residual information may remain in our archives as well as records necessary for billing history if you made purchases, but this information will not be used for a commercial purpose; we still may notify you of major changes to our service from time to time. We also reserve the right to maintain information on members who violated our Conditions of Use or who had their access to Canvas Depot blocked, so as to detect repeat offenders.

What should I know about submissions and privacy?

You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose personal information online in a public area, others may collect and use that information. We do not control the actions of our visitors or registered members. If you disclose personal information in a gift suggestion, gift advice submission, or any other publicly accessible place on the Canvas Depot site, you do so at your own risk, and you understand that your information may be collected and used by others to send you unsolicited messages, advertisements, or for other purposes.

Please remember that protection of your privacy begins with you. You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any password you use to register, and you should always be careful and responsible whenever disclosing information online.

Although we will use all reasonable efforts to safeguard the privacy of your personal information, transmissions made by means of the Internet cannot be made absolutely secure. Canvas Depot assumes no liability for disclosure of data due to errors in transmission or unauthorized third parties.
